American Water Spaniel |
American Water Spaniel, breed of hunting podruzheynyh dogs bred in Wisconsin (USA) in the 19th century by crossing the Irish Water Spaniel with a smaller spaniel or Curly Coated Retriever. The breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1940. This breed is little known outside his homeland, where is famous as an excellent podruzheynoy dog.

The American Water Spaniel - fine hunter and a strong swimmer, active, muscular dog of medium size (height 36-46 cm, weight 11-20 kg), sturdy build with curly hair. Head of moderate length, skull fairly wide and rounded. The forehead is covered with smooth hair. The nose is fairly broad with open nostrils. Tail of medium length, slightly curved, tapering at the end, holding slightly lower back line of hair to the tip. The hair in tight curls, thick, but not coarse, adjacent to the body to protect it from water and cold. Solid color, dark brown, or dark chocolate, can tolerate some white markings on the toes and chest.
